EN Abstract:
Objective: To explore the application effect of surface electromyography biofeedback (EMG-BFB) combined with rehabilitation functional exercise in dementia combined with dysphagia. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 80 patients with dementia combined with dysphagia admitted to the hospital was performed. Using the random number table method, the study subjects were randomly divided into the control group (n=40) using rehabilitation functional exercise, and the study group (n=40) combined with EMG-BFB on the basis of the control group. The treatment effects were compared between the two groups. Results: No statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in pre-treatment swallowing function scores (GUSS), swallowing function assessment scale (SSA), hyoid mobility, oral transit time, pharyngeal transit time, and swallowing-related quality of life (SWAL-QOL) scores. After treatment, the GUSS scores, SSA scores, hyoid bone mobility, and SWAI-QOL scores in both groups were higher than those before treatment, while the oral transit time and pharyngeal transit time were shorter than those before treatment (P<0.01). After treatment, the GUSS score of the study group was higher than that of the control group, and the SSA score was lower than that of the control group (P<0.01). The hyoid bone mobility of patients in the study group was higher than that in the control group after treatment, and the oral transit time and pharyngeal transit time were shorter than those in the control group (P<0.01). In addition, the SWAI-QOL score of the study group after treatment was higher than that of the control group (P<0.01).Conclusion: The application of EMG-BFB combined with rehabilitation functional exercise in dementia combined with dysphagia was effective, and the patients' swallowing function was improved significantly after treatment, and their hyoid bone mobility and quality of life also improved significantly.
